Title: A Visit to the Retirement Home

Source: ER-Central

Author: Lauren

Level: 11.50

Words: 707

Genre: Life lesson, fictional

Hi there! My name is Linda, and I'm created by Lauren. I want to share with you my heartwarming story from my life. It was my first year of high school. The teacher asked us what helping other people meant. The next day, we went to a retirement home. There were lots of seniors who looked like they were in their sixties or seventies. We played a lot of games, and they shared their stories. At the end of the day, we all learned what helping other people meant. It was being a part of something bigger in our community. I love the fact that although humans change in many ways as they age, they also remain the same in many ways. This event really changed my perspective on life.

Title: The English Teacher

Youtube channel: Blake Ridder

Duration: 12 minutes and 15 seconds

Genre : Drama

Hello, my name is Robert. Blake Ridder created me as an English teacher. I live my life like a normal person, yet I want to tell you a story from my boring and usual life that changed me. That morning, I woke up early to the sound of my phone's notification; it was from my email. A Korean man, Jin, would like to book an appointment with me to help him study for his English exam; soon we became friends. Then, it was time for his exam. In the afternoon, he sent me a video via email. It turns out he was the one who killed my wife years ago. In an utter shock, I ran to his house and called his name. He was gone. I don't know whether he's running away or too scared to face me. I'm so mad; I hate it. I hate it so much that I can't do anything about it. I lost my wife, and now I have also lost my friend. I can't help it anymore; I hate it.

My Choice

 Hello hello there~┌(★o☆)┘

It's very nice to see you again, I hope you always have a good life to live on!

In this blog I want to share to you about the choice that I made between My Emoji Story, Sketch It, and Acrostic Poem to stories that I've read and listened. I choose My Emoji Story for this blog, I hope you enjoy it \(ϋ)/♩

The first story:

Source: http://www.oxfordgradedreaders.es/product/the-happy-prince/

The Happy Prince is a book written by Oscar Wilde. It's an Oxford Graded Readers Book, the level is starter with 250 words and 37 pages. The genre is children's literature. The book is about a golden statue of a smiling prince with blue sapphire eyes and red ruby attached to his sword. He can easily saw a whole city and the activites from the people, but The Happy Prince can't help but crying when he saw people in the city are financially struggling. One day he met a little swallow, and he ask the swallow to deliver his sapphires, ruby and gold pieces in hope it can help the people in need.

This is the emoji that I've chose: The Crying Emoji. It best describes the story because it's just too sad and heartbreaking. The way The Happy Prince gave his valuables to help people in need is touching. Although it can be very detrimental to himself, but he still chose to give it all to the city people and give up to his happiness because he think their happiness is his happiness too. Also I'm very touched by the little swallow's sacrifice, he willing to give up to his previous plans just to make The Happy Prince's wishes come true by delivering things to city people.

The second story:

Soapy's Choice written by O Henry is a level A2 Elementary story with 1225 words. The length is 13 minutes and 3 seconds, the genre is comedy, slice of life, and the channel name is English Stories. The story is about a homeless poor man in New York named Soapy who wants to be in prison during the winter because he thinks the prison is such a warm place with a nice free food and good friends. Then he started to looking for a way to get him arrested by the police and enjoy his sentences in warm prison.

Source: https://emojipedia.org/face-with-open-eyes-and-hand-over-mouth

This emoji shows wide opened eyes to express shock while a hand is covering the mouth area. I think it's very suitable to describe my expression after listen to this story. I'm grinning and giggling for the entire story thinking that Soapy is such a silly man but my face is changing faster than Usain Bolt when I finally knew the ending. Who knows that it is so easy to be arrested by the police. Well, maybe with Soapy doing nothing is considered as a crime. Maybe with him being alive on earth is already a crime. What do you think? (*﹏*;)

So this is the end! ´◔‿ゝ◔`)

Thank you so much for sparing your time to read my scribble scrabble, I'm forever be grateful! (っ.❛ ᴗ ❛.)っ

The Perfect Song♪

Welcome back to my blog post! I hope you have a nice day everyday! (。・ω・。)ノ♡

On this blog, I want to share about songs that perfectly fit to stories that I've read and listened.

Title : My Fair Lady

Author : Alan Jay Lerner

Grade : 3 Pre-Intermediate

Pages : 38 pages

Genre : Romance, classic

My Fair Lady told a story about a poor flower girl, Eliza, taught by a professor named Higgins who studies phonetics so that she can talk and act like a real lady. She was learning and studying day and night, and after mastering her language skills like a respectable lady, the professor invited her to meet the royalties and begin her new life.

Title : Line Without a Hook

Artist : Rick Montgomery

Released : 2016

Genres: Alternative/indie, pop

This is the song that I've chosen, and I think it represents My Fair Lady quite well. The vibe is just perfect in the scene when Professor Higgins missed Eliza and wanted her to be with him forever. There's a line in the song: 'Oh, baby, I am a wreck when I'm without you; I need you here to stay', and it really represents the professor's thought and feeling when Eliza left him with another man. Also, there's the line, 'I broke all my bones that day I found you crying at the lake. Was it something I said to make you feel like you're burden?', It's so related to the scene when Eliza is crying because Higgins always bullied her because of her thick London accent.

Title : Sprite Fright

Channel : Blender Studio

Length : 10:30

Genre : Comedy-horror, adventure, animation

The story is about a bunch of teenagers who went camping in the forest. They didn't care about nature and even did bad things like littering, urinating, and damaging wildlife there. After that, they found some tiny mushroom-gnome-like creatures, the Sprites. At night, they were trying to catch one of those creatures, but things turned out unexpectedly for them.

Title : Run Run!

Artist : Jorge Aguilar II

Released : 2015

Genre : Pop, hardcore

I think this song really matches the vibes with the short movie when they were getting chased and murdered by The Sprites. The song is quite gore, as the short movie was. It resembled the chaos when it happened. The lyrics also repeat 'run' on and on; it's the best words of a soundtrack when the characters are being chased by something scary and horrifying.

 ︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵

So, that was all! I really enjoyed both of the stories, it really unique in their own ways. I recommend you to read the book and watch the movie. (≧▽≦)

I hope you always have a great life to live on! I love you, bye. (*^3^)/~♡

Anyway, on this blog I will tell you about my stories that I've read and listened, and I will make acrostic poems for each character that I've chose. Let's get started!ヾ(*’O’*)/

Title : Treading on Dreams
Author : Clarke West (retold)
Level : 5
Word Count : 23,000 words

One of a story that I've read from that book is 'My Oedipus Complex'. by Frank O'Connor.
After the First World War, Larry's father, an army officer, returned to his life. Larry grew jealous as his mother seemed to prefer talking to his father than playing with him. Meanwhile, his father doesn't like Larry's spoiled and childish behavior when he's with his mother. However, as time passed, Larry and his father grew closer and understood each other more.

I love Larry because he looks at everything from his childlike point of view. I feel like children's perceptions of the world are just so pure and fun. Seeing their perception shows how fun the world truly is without life obstacles or overthinking about anything.

I made this poem because I want to explain that Larry was so loud and raving with enthusiasm when talked about his adventures to his mother. However, Larry was rebellious because he didn't want to obey his mother's words to keep quiet while his father was talking or sleeping. I think he is represented as youthful because his behaviors depict a childhood that was very relatable for us. He liked doing funny things just to seek attention, especially his mother's.

Title : Being Frank
Written by : Donna W. Earnhardt
Illustrated by : Andrea Castellani
Read by : Bob Odenkirk
Duration : 9 minutes
Channel : Storyline Online
Source link : https://youtu.be/NqBzMd3FGJg?feature=shared

The story is about Frank who always told the truth, but his honest comments often offended his friends, teachers, and also his mother. They ended up distanced and scolded Frank, so he told his grandpa about his problems and asked for help. His grandpa helped him realize that it's okay being honest and truthful all the time, by saying the liked side than the disliked side. So Frank did what his grandpa said and his surrounding liked him again.

I chose Frank because I feel connected to him. I often can't watch my words when I give bad opinions about something or someone, even though it is true, and I was just being honest. This story taught me so much about being honest without hurting someone's feelings.

I wrote this poem because Frank was always being frank and straight-forward with everyone, even if it was hurtful to them. Although his honesty often hurt, he wanted to be responsible by telling them the truth in a good way and making up with them. He also inspired us to be better. Frank has a kind heart to always be honest, his intentions were good but he is too naive to not know that being honest can also offend people.

I enjoy these stories so much, you have to read/listen to it if you interested. I hope you enjoy this blog. I hope you have a wonderful life everyday!

See you next time, peeps! \(@°▽°@)/

Sketch it!

Welcome to my blog! o((*^▽^*))o

In this episode I want to show you my drawing about one particular scene from one of books I've read.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・

Title : The Railway Children

Author : Edith Nesbit

Word Count : 9,295

Source : Oxford Graded Readers

The story is about three siblings: Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis. They lived as a happy and wealthy family with their parents. But one day, they leave their home in London with their mother because something happened to their father. Then they lived in a small house near the railway in a country town. They always come to the railway, which is their only solace as they don't go to school anymore. In that place, their journey began.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・

This is my drawing from one of this book's scene. Why did I choose this scene? I chose this scene because I love how the siblings work together to get their old man's attention. The mother was sick, so they are giving the old man a letter, hoping he can help them and their mother. What I find interesting about this scene is that I love how Peter is just standing from afar with a large sheet that says 'LOOK OUT AT THE STATION'. And when the old gentleman looked outside, he saw Phyllis running towards him with a letter in her hand. It's just so wholesome to me.

I think it's a great story about family and togetherness. No wonder it was made into a movie.

Aaaand that's all. Thank you for reading my blog, I hope you guys have a great great life! ( ˘ ³˘)♡

My Emoji Stories

Hello again everyone~ It's super nice to know that you're still alive. I hope you always have a nice life to live in! (ʃƪ^3^)

In this blog I want to tell you stories that I have read and listen from ER Central. And I am going to give my honest reaction with emojis. Let's get going, then! ヾ(*’O’*)/

⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂☆

The first one is, from the reading library, I choose "Why Many Love Cats". The genre is factual, it's on level 9.70 with 517 word counts. It tells about the reason why a lot of people like cats over dogs as their pet. You see, a lot of people want a pet to be a companion for them, so they can get over their stress or make everything less lonely for them. For some people, taking care of dogs is not really enjoyable sometimes, they need to get to bath, while cats can clean their body all by their selves. Cats are well-mannered than dogs, they don't scratching or biting things like dogs do. Dogs need to be taken for a walk and move their bodies so they're not getting any health issues. While cats can independently walk their own selves. They aren't as noisy as dogs do too. So getting cats as a pet is considered as a medicine to people with mental illness and needed some peace.

source : https://pin.it/501lULR
My emoji is going to be... Pleading face! Why I choose this emoji? Because I think cats are super cute even though I'm more like a dog person. I also find it rational, when people are stressing over work and they just want to go home to find some peace. They needed the calming cats, not some hyperactive loud dogs. But again, it's our preference, okay? Don't come at me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And for the listening activity, it goes with "Learning Japanese". It's on level 9.30 with 255 words. So basically Eli told us that she's find it so hard to learning Japanese. She think Japanese is a very hard language to learn. She has never learning another language before so she find it quite hard because her school moves very quickly in conversation. They didn't taught her Kanji even though that's so important if you live in Japanese. She want to practice Japanese more with his friends but she couldn't because her friends are wanted to learn English with her. So it makes her very lazy and ended up not talking much Japanese to improve her skills.

source : https://pin.it/21Je57x
My emoji for "Learning Japanese" is "Astonishing Face". Why? Because I do really think learning Japanese is hard. Technically learning other language is super hard, but as a former Japanese learner, I was find it really hard, especially learning Kanji. I stop to actually learning Japanese because it's just too hard. But I do still learn it unconsciously until now, because I'm watching anime and listening to Japanese music often.

₊✧˚﹕︶︶︶﹕૮₍ ⸝⸝´ ꒳ `⸝⸝ ₎ა﹕︶︶︶﹕ ˚✧₊

Maybe that's all for this "My Emoji Stories" blog. Thank you for stop by and read, I appreciate that a lot. See you on my next blog (。・ω・。)ノ♡

English and Me

source : https://pin.it/7BLeN7O

Hello everyone! ♡

Welcome to my very first writing in my very first blog also~ And in this very first post, I will tell you a story about when I discovered English as a different language. I'm sorry if it's not enjoyable, this is my first time after all (´ε` )

It's started back when I'm 5, CDs are at it's peak, they are so popular, everybody listened to CDs and you can find them wherever; bookstores, grocery stores, traditional market, even the side of the road. Basically wherever.

source : https://pin.it/4ReQGi9

So my dad is a huge fan of Metallica after he bought a CD of their hottest songs. He loves it so much he plays it everyday. I'm so sick of it until I I realize there's not a single words I understand. "Yah, jane iku do ngomong opo toh?" (translate : "Dad, what are they saying?") I asked. And he replied that they're saying in English. That's the time when I discovered English as a real thing.

source : https://pin.it/6QG8lmX

The one who taught me English is my mom. She's an elementary school teacher, she make sure to properly taught me English because she thought learning it at an early age would be good for me and my future.
Like an innocent kid I was, I feel like learning other language than Bahasa Indonesia and Jawa will make me cooler than all of my friends ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)

But of course there's some times I hate English and think that it's so frustrating. Especially when I can't understand the topic and contexts (re : grammar and tenses). And also there's time when I feel like English is to boring for me just because I have good grades, but of course it's just my cocky side. I realize I need to improve my English. In fact, my level is waaaay too low compared to my friends in this major. That's why I need to improve my English so I don't get left behind by the others.

source : https://pin.it/25nryqJ

Of course I'm not stay still and waiting for the miracles. I improve my English skills by practice to write and speak regularly, expand my vocabulary, and learning it with the fun way such as; watching movies, listening to the music, and reading manga in English. Especially in this sophisticated era, we must make the best use of it. There's so much apps and website we can use to improve English skills practically in the most convenient and easy way.

That's all, thank you so much for reading until the end, I really appreciate it ( ;∀;)
I hope you have a nice life (?) and God bless us all ( ◜‿◝ )♡
